Every two to three months we produce a newsletter which we post out to all carers on our database. This has a list of dementia cafes, carers’ information sessions and former carers groups.
Every two months we organise a social evening at Ealing Town Hall. These events have live music and refreshments for carers and people with dementia. Carers can socialise with the person cared for and meet others with similar experiences.
The cafe is held in the Liz Cantell room between 7:00 and 9:00pm. There is buffet food, music, raffles and other entertainment and one of our dementia advisors will be present to answer any queries. It is free for those attending and transport is available for those people who need it.
Carers Information Sessions
Information sessions are facilitated by our own staff, but other professionals with specialist knowledge also give talks. Subjects include: demystifying dementia, carers’ support/benefits and coping with challenging behaviour. You will be able to meet other carers, share your problems and have your questions answered.
We hold evening sessions every six weeks – at either Elm Lodge or Sycamore Lodge. These take place from 7:00 to 9:00pm. There is a short break for refreshments. Transport may be available for those who are unable to use public transport.
In addition, once a fortnight on a Thursday, we hold afternoon information, consultation and activity sessions for carers at the William Hobbayne Centre. These sessions take place from 1:30 to 3:00pm.
Former Carers Group
This is a meeting of former carers meeting on the third Thursday of each month.
This is a lunch for people with dementia and their carers. It takes place every December at the Pillars Restaurant.
