Members of our social club at Sycamore Lodge had a surprise visitor on Friday (13 March), Ealing’s Mayor, Cllr Anthony Kelly.
The Mayor, accompanied by past Mayor, Cllr Yvonne Johnson, described the visit as a ‘spectacular afternoon’ that involved meeting members of the social club.
The Mayor said, having worked for Dementia Concern, his visit was very special to him. He added: “These social clubs are so important in our lives and the people that look after you here, are equally as important. It’s an opportunity for you all to get out and for you to have fun. When you go back home, you can tell everyone what a great time you’ve had.”
Head of Social Activity, Linda Byrne said we run a number of clubs across the borough, both at weekends and weekdays. All club activities are delivered by professional people who understand the impact of Dementia on daily lives. “We provide an opportunity for those diagnosed with Dementia to live their lives to the best quality possible. Through our social clubs, we provide our members with a meeting place, where friendships are forged over an enjoyable meal and other activities such as exercise, fun quizzes and good conversation.

Advisory and Link workers from Dementia Concern provide additional services, which allow Dementia Concern to provide care that links in with other health and social care organisations; this collaboration helps provide support for members when it’s needed.
