Our social clubs consist of Weekend Day Care and a Thursday Group for more active people with dementia. They offer people with dementia a chance to socialise in a safe environment and offer respite for their carers. These clubs have been paused due to COVID-19 and will resume as soon as it is safe to.

Carers get a break from caring and can spend the time doing whatever they would like to do.

Weekend Social Club

This is a day-care service for people diagnosed with dementia, based at Elm Lodge and Sycamore Lodge centres. This is a paid service.

 We provide:

  •  a hot lunchtime meal meeting
  •  a safe environment in which personal care needs are met
  •  transport to and from the centres if needed (pick up from 9.45am and drop off by 4.30pm)

Thursday Group Social Club

We run once a weekday care for more active people with dementia at the Hobbayne Centre. Sessions include

  • Activities which everyone can join in including exercise classes
  • Day centre support for those at an earlier stage of dementia
  • Social contact and lunch/refreshments for everyone attending
  • Regular trips to local places of interest such as Kew Gardens, Richmond Park and the Brand Museum

Recently as lockdown restrictions have eased we have been able to resume meetings with some of our Thursday Group to go on socially distanced Nature walks in smaller groups than usual. For an example of one of such meetings read more here
